- Estimated Tariff Cost: Cost = Energy (kWh) × Tariff Rate
Note that many high-draw appliances (such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and water heaters) cycle their compressors on and off, meaning they do not consume their maximum rated wattage continuously. This tool assumes steady-state power draw, which provides a useful upper-bound cost estimate.
